This is an intriguing concept, Daniel. The implications of cognitive load and split attention principles come to mind, but the similarities between this seemingly synchronous model and the typical face-to-face classroom are compelling enough for me to want to hear more, for sure.
Hello David —
Yes, good point on the cognitive load. My hope was that with a swish of my wrist (i.e. Minority Report…or less flashy, the person giving us the weather report), I could move one of those sources/streams of content to be the main source of content. The others could be easily accessible.
For example, perhaps I could “hide” everything but a Captivate or Camtasia-Studio-like piece of content on how to do some problem in Physics. I could elect to hear the professor’s audio or not. But as you say, we would need to watch how much load such a system puts on people. I guess what excited me about the concept was a way to try and tap into curated, highly-recommended sources of content on a particular subject/discipline.

Love to hear your and others thoughts on this!
Thanks again David!
