Paul Simbeck-Hampson has some good thoughts on the term “learning ecosystem” — check them out.
I think, as this blog progresses, blended learning will definitely be a very important element of a learning ecosystem, as it combines the best of both worlds:
I am working on a graphic for “The House of Instruction“. Given all of the building blocks out there, how do we best build such a house? Which materials get used? Can we use them all and let students select which “blocks” work for them?
Dear Daniel,
Thanks for the mention. I enjoyed watching your recent ecosystem captivate presentation and reposted it on twitter for others to share. It is a valid point about the continuous change and movement within the structure and connectivity of the nodes. When designing a learning system it is important to take into account this movement from the various stakeholder perspectives.
I can recommend a good book for your reading list. Jay Cross and his Internet Time Alliance colleagues recently launched the 2010 edition of Working Smarter, Informal learning in the cloud. This edition focuses on social learning and implementing web 2.0 technology. – http://bit.ly/cqj9bL.
Keep up the great work,
