In the early 1990’s I was working at Kraft Foods trying to get 66 plants & all HQ locations to use electronic mail. I remembering offering training sessions on PROFS & Microsoft Mail where I mentioned to the attendees that we would be using much more multimedia-based communications in the future. At that time, I was referring to the idea that voicemail & email systems would be more tightly integrated and that we would be receiving more audio & video-based messages directly within our email mailboxes.
20+ years later, I’m finally experiencing that! Excellent! It took longer than I thought it was going to take, but it’s here. (Others may have had access to integrated voicemail & email systems a while back, but this is a first for the organizations where I’ve worked.)
Which makes me wonder…where might our communication systems be 20 years from now?
