College is often advertised as the best four years of one\u2019s life, but many Americans now have regrets.<\/p>\n

More than a third of all graduates now say their degree was a \u201cwaste of money,\u201d according to a new\u00a0survey by Indeed<\/a>. This frustration is especially pronounced among Gen Z, with 51% expressing remorse\u2014compared to 41% of millennials and just 20% of baby boomers.<\/p>\n

Overall, a growing share of college-educated workers are questioning the return on investment (ROI) of their degree,\u00a0Kyle M.K., a career trend expert at Indeed, told\u00a0Fortune<\/em>. It\u2019s something that\u2019s not all too surprising considering that the average\u00a0cost of a bachelor\u2019s degree has doubled<\/a>\u00a0in the last two decades to over $38,000, and total\u00a0student loan debt<\/a>\u00a0has ballooned to nearly $2 trillion.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother 38% feel student loans have limited their career growth more than their diploma has accelerated it,\u201d M.K. said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAI won\u2019t invalidate a solid education, but it will reward those who keep upgrading their toolkit.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
