And that while the details of this proposed rule might seem arcane, it will have a major impact across higher ed.<\/p>\n<p>It is very important to note that we are in the middle of the public comment period for these proposed rules, and that ED should hear directly from colleges and universities about the impact of the proposed rules.\u00a0<a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2024\/07\/24\/2024-16102\/program-integrity-and-institutional-quality-distance-education-return-of-title-iv-hea-funds-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">You can comment here<\/a>\u00a0through next Friday (August 23rd).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">From DSC:<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Phil brings up numerous excellent points in the above posting. If the Department of Education\u2019s (ED\u2019s) proposed rules on online attendance taking get finalized, the impacts could be huge &#8212; and negative\/costly in several areas.
