[Christian]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>From DSC:<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">After reading the book entitled<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Love-Hate-Story-Henri-Landwirth\/dp\/1604022337\/ref=sr_1_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>&#8220;Love &amp; Hate&#8221; by Bill Halamandaris<\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8212; a book about Henri Landwirth, the founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gktw.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Give Kids the World Village<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; and<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Purpose-How-Engagement-Drives-Success\/dp\/1949639576\/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3KYHX3X6JXSIX&amp;dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.kv0aqxD-HwSUd4xQNkRoRXFl7_iOUFq9MCB8esPGLVc.sxT8M4BqULcnRTW4SqlJp5kKs33dEmC4MTnhWnmOjyM&amp;dib_tag=se&amp;keywords=on+purpose+landwirth&amp;qid=1708013710&amp;sprefix=on+purpose+landdwirth%2Caps%2C113&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;On Purpose&#8221; by Pamela Landwirth<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">, I was struck with several thoughts. Below are just some of them:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">There is enormous power in a vision.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">People want purpose and meaning in their lives. They want their lives to count. To matter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">People want to work for an organization that is concretely making the world a better place in which to live.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">People want to buy from businesses that are making a positive contribution to the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Both love and hate are powerful. But let&#8217;s choose to go forward with love.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Parents, grandparents, and\/or other guardians of critically-ill children carry enormous, hidden burdens. Let&#8217;s try to notice those burdens and help them out.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Life is precious.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-90632\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/LifeIsPrecious-DSC-AdoStck101315171.jpg\" alt=\"Let's remember this -- Despite what we may hear and see, life is precious.\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">From DSC:<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Recently, a group from our church went to serve down at the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gktw.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Give Kids the World Village<\/strong><\/a>,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> in Kissimee, Florida. I wanted to relay the specialness of this place and say a few words about the Founder of the Give Kids the World Village: a man by the name of <strong>Henri Landwirth<\/strong>. Over the last few weeks in the Orlando area, the Holy Spirit helped me to think about the <strong><em>power of a vision<\/em><\/strong>, as both Walt Disney and Henri Landwirth were visionaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">But first, it\u2019s important to note that Henri survived FIVE concentration camps during WWII. He had no name there. He was known only as B4343.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90639 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/HenriLandwirth.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" srcset=\"https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/HenriLandwirth.jpg 761w, https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/HenriLandwirth-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 761px) 100vw, 761px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Henri:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Was in concentration camps from ages 13-18<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">He lost both of his parents to acts of mass murder<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Henri survived <em>FIVE YEARS<\/em> of hunger, torture, and horrendous conditions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">He faced what looked like certain death several times<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Yet as I was reading the book entitled \u201cLove &amp; Hate\u201d, I kept wondering if I was seeing the fingerprints of God on Henri\u2019s life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">After the war, Henri went in search of former Nazis, for whom he was filled with hatred. And while I don\u2019t have time to relay the fateful day that changed Henri\u2019s perspective and his life, <strong>the bottom line was that he didn\u2019t want to become like his former captors the Nazis. Surprisingly and amazingly, he chose love, not hate.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Fast forward to Henri\u2019s coming to America, working very hard, and climbing up the ladder of the Holiday Inn organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Then fast forward even further to the time Henri was looking for a location to build his vision. Quoting from page 139:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Henri took his checkbook and began looking for a location for Give Kids the World Village. He found it almost immediately in Kissimmee. <strong>When Henry looked at the lot, he could already see the Village there. Where others might have seen rows of burned orange trees and wetlands, Henri saw villages, a place for kids to fish, and a castle. <\/strong><strong>\u201cI could see it all,\u201d Henri says, \u201cas if my dream had already come to life.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90640 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/GKTW.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" srcset=\"https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/GKTW.jpg 784w, https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/GKTW-150x82.jpg 150w, https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/GKTW-768x420.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 784px) 100vw, 784px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">A few last notable things about the Give Kids the World Village:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">According to the book by Bill Halamandaris, the Village was built with ZERO CONTRACTS and NO ADVERTISEMENTS from those who helped create the village! This is underheard of for $60+ million worth of facilities and the millions of dollars\u2019 worth of donated services.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The Village has <em>thousands<\/em> of volunteers and it takes 160 volunteers <em>per day<\/em> to keep it running<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Since 1986, Give Kids The World Village has welcomed more than 188,000 families from all 50 states and 77 countries. <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>So I want to leave you with the idea that we were witnesses of \u2013 and participants in \u2013 the tremendous power of a vision. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From DSC: After reading the book entitled &#8220;Love &amp; Hate&#8221; by Bill Halamandaris &#8212; a book about Henri Landwirth, the founder of the Give Kids the World Village &#8212; and &#8220;On Purpose&#8221; by Pamela Landwirth, I was struck with several thoughts.
