He was a servant leader, <em>not<\/em> demanding choice treatment, not squeezing the people for every last drop, and not using his position to treat himself extra right.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">I don&#8217;t like to get political on this blog, as I already lose a great deal of readership due to including matters of faith. <strong>But today&#8217;s leaders (throughout all kinds of organizations) need to learn from Nehemiah&#8217;s example, regardless of whatever their beliefs\/faiths may be.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"dropdown-display\">\n<div class=\"dropdown-display-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Nehemiah+5%3A14-19&amp;version=NIV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Nehemiah 5:14-19 New International Version<\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>(emphasis by DSC)<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"passage-text\">\n<div class=\"passage-content passage-class-0\">\n<div class=\"version-NIV result-text-style-normal text-html\">\n<div class=\"std-text\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-12397\" class=\"text Neh-5-14\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>Moreover, from the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes,\u00a0when I was appointed to be their governor\u00a0in the land of Judah, until his thirty-second year\u2014twelve years\u2014<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>neither I nor my brothers ate the food allotted to the governor.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-12398\" class=\"text Neh-5-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>But the earlier governors\u2014those preceding me\u2014placed a heavy burden on the people and took forty shekels<sup class=\"footnote\" style=\"font-size: 0.625em; line-height: normal; position: relative; vertical-align: text-top; top: auto; display: inline;\" data-fn=\"#fen-NIV-12398a\" data-link=\"[&lt;a href=&quot;#fen-NIV-12398a&quot; title=&quot;See footnote a&quot;&gt;a&lt;\/a&gt;]\">[<a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"See footnote a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Nehemiah+5%3A14-19&amp;version=NIV#fen-NIV-12398a\">a<\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0of silver from them in addition to food and wine. Their assistants also lorded it over the people. But out of reverence for God\u00a0I did not act like that.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"en-NIV-12399\" class=\"text Neh-5-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Instead,\u00a0I devoted myself to the work on this wall.
