from samchaltain.substack.com by Sam Chaltain<\/p>\n<p><em>Excerpts <span style=\"color: #800000;\">(emphasis DSC):<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">It&#8217;s not sexy, but I feel like Sal Khan\u2019s recent video\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rnIgnS8Susg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">introducing his Academy\u2019s GPT-fueled AI tutor<\/a>\u00a0augurs the future of the teaching profession \u2014 and not just at Khan Academy.<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\nThe tutor is already fully capable of offering personalized feedback, hints and suggestions for just about any topic for which there are already clearly established answers &#8212; from solving math equations with parentheses to digesting John Locke\u2019s political philosophy.<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\nBut now we\u2019ve entered a new chapter \u2014 dare I say,\u00a0a Technological Singularity (20 years early) \u2014 one in which Chat-GPT in particular, and the daily flood of AI tools more generally, has changed the nature of the teacher\/student relationship even more irrevocably than before.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">As a result, from this day forward, the job of a teacher REALLY needs to stop being about transmission.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">So what should it start being instead?<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>In which case, the future of teaching is not about transmission, but it\u00a0is\u00a0about the other trans- words: transmedia exploration, transdisciplinary weaving, transcultural understanding, and, yes, personal and societal transformation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Future of Teaching is Here &#8212;
