Outside experts call it \u2018profoundly disturbing.\u2019<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Excerpt:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">An artificial intelligence hiring system has become a powerful gatekeeper for some of America\u2019s most prominent employers, reshaping how companies assess their workforce \u2014 and how prospective employees prove their worth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Designed by the recruiting-technology firm HireVue, the system uses candidates\u2019 computer or cellphone cameras to analyze their facial movements, word choice and speaking voice before ranking them against other applicants based on an automatically generated \u201cemployability\u201d score.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"font--body font-copy color-gray-darkest ma-0 pad-bottom-md undefined\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>The system, they argue, will assume a critical role in helping decide a person\u2019s career. If that&#8217;s the case:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Then you might not be very interested in this posting. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">You will be very surprised in the future, when you do need to search for a new job.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Because the truth is, it&#8217;s very difficult to get the eyes of a human being to even <em>look<\/em> at your resume and\/or to meet you in person.
