Performance Technologies from the votes of 2,174 learning professionals worldwide, together with 3 sub-lists<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Top 100 Tools for Personal &amp; Professional Learning (PPL)<\/li>\n<li>Top 100 Tools for Workplace Learning (WPL)<\/li>\n<li>Top 100 Tools for Education (EDU)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Excerpt from <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/analysis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Analysis page<\/a> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">(emphasis DSC):<\/span><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Here is a brief analysis of what\u2019s on the list and what it tells us about the current state of personal learning, workplace learning and education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some facts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The top 2 tools are the same as in 2016: <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/youtube\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/google-search\/\">Google Search<\/a><\/li>\n<li>PowerPoint moves up to #3, <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/word\/\">Word<\/a>\u00a0moves up to #6, <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/excel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Excel<\/a> up 29 to #17<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0moves down to #5<\/li>\n<li>66 tools moved up the list.\u00a0 Top 3 risers are <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/unsplash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unsplash<\/a>\u00a0(up 71 places), <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/grammarly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grammarly<\/a> (up 70 places) and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/snapchat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Snapchat<\/a> (up 64 places<\/li>\n<li>Messaging apps and team tools are particularly on the rise: <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/slack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Slack<\/a>\u00a0is now up 8 places to #12, <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/trello\/\">Trello<\/a>\u00a0is up 21 places to #22, <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/microsoft-teams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Teams<\/a> is another new tool in at #79<\/li>\n<li>4 tools are BACK on the list: <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/google-alerts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Alerts<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/ifttt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IFTTT<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/basecamp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Backpack<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/hootsuite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hootsuite<\/a><\/li>\n<li>52 NEW tools appear on the list this year \u2013 the highest entry is <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/typeform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Typeform in at #55<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>2 interesting new tools for augmented and virtual reality join the list \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/aurasma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aurasma<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/entiti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ENTiTi<\/a> \u2013 as well as a chatbot system \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/c4lpt.co.uk\/top100tools\/ultra-hal-assistant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ultra Hal Assistant.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Some observations on what the Top Tools list tells us personal and professional learning<br \/>\n<\/strong>As in previous years, individuals continue to using a wide variety of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>networks, services and platforms for professional networking, communication and collaboration<\/li>\n<li>web resources and courses for self-improvement and self-development<\/li>\n<li>tools for personal productivity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">All of which shows that many individuals have become highly independent, continuous modern professional learners \u2013 making their own decisions about what they need to learn and how to do it.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
