So some of our funding will go into research to better understand which trainings will be most effective in getting the most people the jobs of the future. Our grantee <a href=\"http:\/\/socialfinance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social Finance<\/a> is looking at which youth training programs most effectively use contributions from trainees, governments and future employers to give people the best chance of<br \/>\nsuccess.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.org\/helping-prepare-for-the-future-of-work\/\"><b>Helping prepare for the future of\u00a0work<\/b><\/a><span class=\"gmail-article__author\">\u00a0&#8212; from google.org<br \/>\n<i>Work is changing. As new technologies continue to unfold in the workplace, more than a third of jobs are likely to require skills that are uncommon in<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/reports.weforum.org\/future-of-jobs-2016\/skills-stability\/#view\/fn-13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">today\u2019s workforce<\/a>.<\/strong> Workers are increasingly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/global-themes\/employment-and-growth\/Independent-work-Choice-necessity-and-the-gig-economy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">working independently<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/spotlight\/2016\/a-look-at-the-future-of-the-us-labor-force-to-2060\/home.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Demographic<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/social\/main.jsp?langId=en&amp;catId=1196&amp;newsId=2402&amp;furtherNews=yes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changes<\/a> and shifts in <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/CIVPART\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">labor participation<\/a> in developed countries will mean future generations will <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/global-themes\/employment-and-growth\/the-productivity-imperative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">find new ways<\/a> to sustain economic growth. These changes create opportunities to think about how work can continue to be a source of not just income, but purpose and meaning for individuals and communities.Technology can help seize these opportunities. We recently launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blog.google\/products\/search\/connecting-more-americans-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google for Jobs<\/a>, which is designed to help better connect people to jobs, and <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">today we\u2019re announcing Google.org\u2019s $50 million commitment to help people prepare for the changing nature of work.<\/span> <\/strong>We\u2019ll support nonprofits who are taking innovative approaches to tackling this challenge in three ways: (1) training people with the skills they need, (2) connecting job-seekers with positions that match their skills and talents, and (3) supporting workers in low-wage employment.
