{"id":55362,"date":"2016-06-03T10:28:39","date_gmt":"2016-06-03T14:28:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/?p=55362"},"modified":"2016-06-03T15:53:09","modified_gmt":"2016-06-03T19:53:09","slug":"new-forms-of-hci-raise-numerous-career-related-and-curriculum-related-questions-for-us-christian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/2016\/06\/03\/new-forms-of-hci-raise-numerous-career-related-and-curriculum-related-questions-for-us-christian\/","title":{"rendered":"New forms of HCI raise numerous career-related and curriculum-related questions for us [Christian]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Questions from DSC:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Which jobs\/positions are being impacted by new forms of Human Computer Interaction (HCI)?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">What new jobs\/positions will be created by these new forms of HCI?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Will it be necessary for instructional technologists, instructional designers, teachers, professors, trainers, coaches,\u00a0learning space designers, and others to pulse check this landscape?\u00a0 Will that be enough?\u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Or will such individuals need to dive much deeper than that in order to build the necessary skillsets, understandings, and knowledgebases to meet the new\/changing expectations for their job positions?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">How many will say, &#8220;No thanks, that&#8217;s not for me&#8221; &#8212; causing organizations to create new positions that do dive deeply in this area?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Will colleges and universities build and offer more courses involving HCI? <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Will Career Services Departments get up to speed in order to help students carve out careers involving new forms of HCI?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">How will languages and language translation be impacted by voice recognition software?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Will new devices be introduced to our classrooms in the future?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In the corporate space, how will training departments handle these new needs and opportunities?\u00a0 How will learning &amp; development groups be impacted? How will they respond in order to help the workforce get\/be prepared to take advantage of these sorts of technologies? What does it mean for these staffs personally? Do they need to invest in learning more about these advancements?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">As an example of what I&#8217;m trying to get at here, who all might be involved with an effort like Echo Dot?\u00a0 What types of positions created it? Dot has a small built-in speaker\u2014it can also connect to your speakers over Bluetooth or with the included audio cable. Dot connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more\u2014instantly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Echo Dot can hear you from across the room, even while music is playing. When you want to use Echo Dot, just say the wake word &#8220;Alexa&#8221; and Dot responds instantly. If you have more than one Echo or Echo Dot, you can set a different wake word for each\u2014you can pick &#8220;Amazon&#8221;, &#8220;Alexa&#8221; or &#8220;Echo&#8221; as the wake word.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Or how might students learn about the myriad of technologies involved with<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibm.com\/smarterplanet\/us\/en\/ibmwatson\/what-is-watson.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>IBM&#8217;s Watson<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #800000;\">?\u00a0 What courses are out there today that address this type of thing?\u00a0 Are more courses in the works that will address this type of thing?
