[Christian]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>From DSC:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Problem\/question: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>If you wanted to, how do you make a digital version of 20+ feet worth of writings and drawings on 2+ chalkboards or whiteboards that are put together?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonmyblackboard.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/10\/siskaoct2014.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The applications that I&#8217;ve run across so far &#8212; whether they are meant for PCs, Macs, tablets, or smartphones &#8212; don&#8217;t do it, as they&#8217;re too limited on screen real estate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Some have tried using<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=lightboards&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=isch&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwja0v7y3tfLAhVMmoMKHUHCBukQ_AUICCgC&amp;biw=1521&amp;bih=806#imgrc=vz5gJvGB3vbxbM%3A\" target=\"_blank\">lightboards<\/a> <span style=\"color: #800000;\">and making recordings of their equations or other work&#8230;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/technabob.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/lightboard-glass-dry-erase-board-by-michael-peshkin-620x456.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8230;but those solutions seem to fall short, at least in my mind, if you need to reference something early on in the long equation&#8230;you know, on that first &#8220;board&#8221; of information that you completed and then erased.\u00a0 (I suppose if a student was watching a recording, you could tell them to go back to Marker 1 in the video&#8230;and they can go back and review that portion of the video&#8230;but that requires more time\/editing\/setup. Time that faculty members often don&#8217;t have.)\u00a0 So, again, lightboards seem somewhat limited in their real estate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Then, a while back, I saw this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.djc.com\/news\/co\/12083725.html\" target=\"_blank\">360-degree ring of display screens at Washington State University<\/a>&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52548\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/WSU-ActiveLearningClassroom-Nov2015.jpg\" alt=\"WSU-ActiveLearningClassroom-Nov2015\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/WSU-ActiveLearningClassroom-Nov2015.jpg 785w, https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/WSU-ActiveLearningClassroom-Nov2015-150x55.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">and it got me to thinking&#8230;hmmm&#8230;yes&#8230;if, as a faculty member was using an application that they could write on and the equation could appear on the screens overhead. Faculty could use something akin to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wacom.com\/en-us\/products\/pen-displays\/cintiq-27-qhd-touch\" target=\"_blank\">pen &amp; touch display from Wacom<\/a> in order to write the equations &#8212; but the software would need to allow them to scroll backwards and forwards throughout their long equations. They could use those tools to highlight or further annotate something that was previously covered. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wacom.com\/en-us\/products\/pen-displays\/cintiq-27-qhd-touch\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-54248\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-54248\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/WacomTablet-Large-March2016.jpg\" alt=\"WacomTablet-Large-March2016\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/WacomTablet-Large-March2016.jpg 662w, https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/WacomTablet-Large-March2016-150x114.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 662px) 100vw, 662px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In this type of physical\/AV-related solution, it would seem that the students would be best situated on the inside of the circle, looking upwards to watch the equation build on itself.\u00a0 Having a huge amount of digital space to work with could mean that they could turn their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelcase.com\/products\/collaborative-chairs\/node\/\" target=\"_blank\">Node Chairs<\/a> around to see any portion of the equation.\u00a0 Faculty members could also, I suppose, use laser pointers to point to something up on the displays.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Again though, they would need to be able to scroll left to right, top to bottom, say on something like the<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluescape.com\/product\/#tile-00\" target=\"_blank\">160 acres<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> (vs 20+ feet of chalkboard\/whiteboard) you get on a workspace in<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluescape.com\/product\/#tile-00\" target=\"_blank\">Bluescape<\/a><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluescape.com\/tour\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50768\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/BlueScape-2015.jpg\" alt=\"BlueScape-2015\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/BlueScape-2015.jpg 634w, https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/BlueScape-2015-150x109.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8230;then you would have a lot of digital real estate to work with. So that was one approach I was wondering about.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>But then, I saw some interesting items regarding Virtual Reality, and POW! There it is!
