He said:<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWho is this that obscures my plans<br \/>\nwith words without knowledge?<br \/>\n<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>Brace yourself like a man;<br \/>\nI will question you,<br \/>\nand you shall answer me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhere were you when I laid the earth\u2019s foundation?<br \/>\nTell me, if you understand.<br \/>\n<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!<br \/>\nWho stretched a measuring line across it?<br \/>\n<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>On what were its footings set,<br \/>\nor who laid its cornerstone\u2014<br \/>\n<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>while the morning stars sang together<br \/>\nand all the angels shouted for joy?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWho shut up the sea behind doors<br \/>\nwhen it burst forth from the womb,<br \/>\n<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>when I made the clouds its garment<br \/>\nand wrapped it in thick darkness,<br \/>\n<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>when I fixed limits for it<br \/>\nand set its doors and bars in place,<br \/>\n<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>when I said, \u2018This far you may come and no farther;<br \/>\nhere is where your proud waves halt\u2019?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cHave you ever given orders to the morning,<br \/>\nor shown the dawn its place,<br \/>\n<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>that it might take the earth by the edges<br \/>\nand shake the wicked out of it?<br \/>\n<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>The earth takes shape like clay under a seal;<br \/>\nits features stand out like those of a garment.<br \/>\n<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>The wicked are denied their light,<br \/>\nand their upraised arm is broken.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cHave you journeyed to the springs of the sea<br \/>\nor walked in the recesses of the deep?<br \/>\n<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>Have the gates of death been shown to you?<br \/>\nHave you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?<br \/>\n<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?<br \/>\nTell me, if you know all this.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cWhat is the way to the abode of light?<br \/>\nAnd where does darkness reside?<br \/>\n<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>Can you take them to their places?<br \/>\nDo you know the paths to their dwellings?<br \/>\n<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>Surely you know, for you were already born!<br \/>\nYou have lived so many years!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cHave you entered the storehouses of the snow<br \/>\nor seen the storehouses of the hail,<br \/>\n<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>which I reserve for times of trouble,<br \/>\nfor days of war and battle?<br \/>\n<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,<br \/>\nor the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?<br \/>\n<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain,<br \/>\nand a path for the thunderstorm,<br \/>\n<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>to water a land where no one lives,<br \/>\nan uninhabited desert,<br \/>\n<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>to satisfy a desolate wasteland<br \/>\nand make it sprout with grass?<br \/>\n<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>Does the rain have a father?<br \/>\nWho fathers the drops of dew?<br \/>\n<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>From whose womb comes the ice?<br \/>\nWho gives birth to the frost from the heavens<br \/>\n<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>when the waters become hard as stone,<br \/>\nwhen the surface of the deep is frozen?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cCan you bind the chains of the Pleiades?<br \/>\nCan you loosen Orion\u2019s belt?<br \/>\n<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons<br \/>\nor lead out the Bear with its cubs?<br \/>\n<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>Do you know the laws of the heavens?<br \/>\nCan you set up God\u2019s dominion over the earth?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cCan you raise your voice to the clouds<br \/>\nand cover yourself with a flood of water?<br \/>\n<sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?<br \/>\nDo they report to you, \u2018Here we are\u2019?<br \/>\n<sup>36\u00a0<\/sup>Who gives the ibis wisdom<br \/>\nor gives the rooster understanding?<br \/>\n<sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?<br \/>\nWho can tip over the water jars of the heavens<br \/>\n<sup>38\u00a0<\/sup>when the dust becomes hard<br \/>\nand the clods of earth stick together?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><sup>39\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cDo you hunt the prey for the lioness<br \/>\nand satisfy the hunger of the lions<br \/>\n<sup>40\u00a0<\/sup>when they crouch in their dens<br \/>\nor lie in wait in a thicket?<br \/>\n<sup>41\u00a0<\/sup>Who provides food for the raven<br \/>\nwhen its young cry out to God<br \/>\nand wander about for lack of food?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Job 38 (NIV) The Lord Speaks 38\u00a0Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm.
