Armed with this information they can then offer future courses designed not only to meet that individual\u2019s specific educational needs but which are delivered in a manner personally tailored to his or her unique learning style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Imagine Harvard charges a $100 accrediting fee to every student who takes one of its free courses. If one million students\u2014students who formerly populated state universities and colleges\u2014opt instead to take just one accredited course a year from Harvard that amounts to $100 million a year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #006600;\"><em>From DSC:<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #006600;\"> Readers of this blog will know that I think MOOCs are in an iterative process of morphing into something else, something new.\u00a0 MOOCs are half-baked at this point.\u00a0 I say that because it&#8217;s like drinking from a firehose (at least as of early March 2013).\u00a0 But what Jack Uldrich points out is what I was trying to get at in the graphic below.\u00a0 That is, if technologies that can capture, filter, curate, provide relevant information based upon analytics, one doesn&#8217;t have to drink from a fire hose anymore&#8230;the drinking fountain now becomes a better metaphor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-37639\" alt=\"Watson-MOOCs-NewTypesCollaboration-DChristian-2-14-13\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Watson-MOOCs-NewTypesCollaboration-DChristian-2-14-131.jpg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" srcset=\"https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Watson-MOOCs-NewTypesCollaboration-DChristian-2-14-131.jpg 650w, https:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Watson-MOOCs-NewTypesCollaboration-DChristian-2-14-131-150x127.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>On a <em>potentially<\/em> related note &#8212; and a veeeerrrryyyy interesting question asked at this article out at Chief Learning Officer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"color: #006600;\"><strong>Apple keeps a tight lid on what goes on in its learning organization, Apple University.
