The inter-disciplinary team from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dur.ac.uk\/\">Durham University<\/a>, whose findings have been published in the journal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.journals.elsevier.com\/learning-and-instruction\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Learning and Instruction<\/em><\/a>, found evidence to suggest that children who used smart desks to complete mathematical exercises benefited more than those who completed their tasks on paper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\">During the course of a three-year project known as <a href=\"http:\/\/tel.dur.ac.uk\/synergynet\/\">SynergyNet<\/a>, the researchers have worked with more than 400 pupils, predominantly aged between eight and 10. The team\u2019s latest results show that collaborative learning, such as that facilitated by touchscreen desks, increases learners\u2019 mathematical fluency and flexibility.
