Companies or other groups can sign up for Bloomfire, a monthly service which officially launches March 15, and each group\u2019s \u201cgarden\u201d of informal, social-learning opportunities can be dedicated to anything from sales strategies to fishing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>\u201cWhatever a group or whatever a community would like to teach each other, you could deploy a Bloomfire,<\/strong><\/span>\u201d said Little, who is based in Kalamazoo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">From his work at Pfizer and Stryker \u2014 and most recently, from working with other corporations through his online training-course development company, <a title=\"Maestro eLearning\" href=\"http:\/\/www.maestroelearning.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maestro eLearning<\/a> \u2014 Little and his team came up with the idea to create a tool companies could use as a way for employees to quickly and easily share knowledge and help each other build on that knowledge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Bloomfire focuses on informal learning, which Little said contributes to about 90 percent of the knowledge that most people need to do their jobs.<\/span><\/strong><em> <\/em>Informal learning usually comes from conversations and on-the-job or trial-and-error experiences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cBloomfire is a way to take all that informal learning and formalize it \u2014 somehow capture and harness that,\u201d<\/span><\/strong> Little said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>On Bloomfire, one can do three things \u2014 teach, learn and manage<em>.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Powering social learning: Bloomfire formalizes informal learning &#8212; from mlive.com by Olivia Pulsinelli, Business Review West Michigan (Emphasis below by DSC) According to its Web site, \u201cBloomfire is everything traditional learning is not.\u201d Bloomfire founder Josh Little compared his new company, a hub of online learning communities, to gardens.
