Although your posting stopped me in my tracks, it was good to reflect upon. It made me wonder about such things as&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>If we could get a billion from <a href=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/2010\/08\/13\/if-the-us-government-could-even-get-a-billion-or-two-wow-an-incredible-roi-could-be-had\/\" target=\"_blank\">the fortunes that Gates, Buffett, and other billionaires are donating<\/a>, could we create open learning objects\/courses and make them available worldwide?<\/strong> Or would that not work?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Were you all ahead of your time?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> Where does this leave us? That is, is it a wise goal to create interactive, professionally-done, engaging, multimedia-based applications? If so, under what conditions?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">If we pursue this goal, who and how should we do it?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">If open source models are followed, should we move towards the use of consortiums to create the learning objects? i.e. to spread out the development costs?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">What would you say to instructional designers if they are following similar endeavors\/efforts? How can one know all of the context that speaks to each individual taking the course?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Will &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/cnx.org\/content\/m11898\/latest\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Reusability Paradox<\/a>&#8221; be a show-stopper for us?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">What should our strategy and vision be?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Or did I miss the whole point here?!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Coming Golden Age of Open Educational Simulations &#8212; from Mike Caulfield From DSC: Thanks Mike for sharing this information, these lessons and reflections.
