{"id":9275,"date":"2010-09-14T13:45:41","date_gmt":"2010-09-14T17:45:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/?p=9275"},"modified":"2010-09-20T14:17:41","modified_gmt":"2010-09-20T18:17:41","slug":"the-learning-registry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/2010\/09\/14\/the-learning-registry\/","title":{"rendered":"The Learning Registry"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningregistry.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Learning Registry<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<div><strong>Who We Are<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Learning Registry project is an  informal collaboration among several [U.S.] federal agencies that share the  same goal: making federal learning resources and primary source  materials easier to find, access and integrate into educational  environments.<\/p>\n<p>Key members of the collaboration are:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>The  <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.adlnet.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Advanced  Distributed Learning<\/a> Initiative (ADL) from Office of the Under  Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (<acronym title=\"Office  of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness\">OUSD  P&amp;R<\/acronym>)<\/li>\n<li>The <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www2.ed.gov\/about\/offices\/list\/os\/technology\/\" target=\"_blank\">Office of Educational Technology<\/a> at  the US Department of Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition we have been working  with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">National  Science Foundation<\/a> (NSF)<\/li>\n<li>The White House <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/administration\/eop\/ostp\" target=\"_blank\">Office of Science and Technology Policy<\/a> (OSTP)<\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Federal Communications Commission<\/a> (FCC)<\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nist.gov\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">National  Institute of Standards and Technology<\/a> (NIST)<\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">National  Archives and Records Administration<\/a> (NARA)<\/li>\n<li>The <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.data.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">data.gov<\/a> team<\/li>\n<li>The Federal CIO and CTO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While we focus on the  availability of federal resources, our approach and goals are shared  with others worldwide.\u00a0 We are talking with and working to leveraging  the activities of many others, including:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/nsdl.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The National  Science Digital Library<\/a> (NSDL)<\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/cnx.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Connexions<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/discovered.creativecommons.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Creative Commons DiscoverEd<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eun.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">European  SchoolNet<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.globe-info.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Globe<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ariadne-eu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ariadne<\/a><\/li>\n<li>UK  <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jisc.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Joint  Information Systems Committee<\/a> (JISC)<\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.esa.edu.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Education  Services Australia<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thus we hope our results can enable a  broad ecosystem of discoverable and accessible learning content and help  to build an international community with a shared vision.<\/p>\n<p>Addendum from 9\/20\/10:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.google.com\/a\/learningregistry.org\/public\/news\/thelearningregistryfromthegovernment20summit\" target=\"_blank\">The Learning Registry, from the  Government 2.0 Summit<\/a><\/strong> &#8212;
