{"id":77188,"date":"2021-10-27T02:00:55","date_gmt":"2021-10-27T06:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/?p=77188"},"modified":"2021-10-26T16:47:39","modified_gmt":"2021-10-26T20:47:39","slug":"some-solid-questions-reflections-re-our-current-education-paradigms-from-eva-keiffenheim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/2021\/10\/27\/some-solid-questions-reflections-re-our-current-education-paradigms-from-eva-keiffenheim\/","title":{"rendered":"Some solid questions &#038; reflections re: our current education paradigms &#8212; from Eva Keiffenheim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>An excerpt from Eva Keiffenheim&#8217;s Learn Letter re: A New Education Paradigm <span style=\"color: #800000;\">(emphasis DSC)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Here are a couple of underlying assumptions within our current education paradigm:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>assessment through standardized testing and grades<\/li>\n<li>outcome-focus on academic achievements<\/li>\n<li>the purpose of education is to produce future workforce<\/li>\n<li>teachers and professors are the unique source of knowledge<\/li>\n<li>an inherent dominance (adults &gt; children; professionals &gt; students)<\/li>\n<li>lectures and listening are a valid form of learning<\/li>\n<li>subjects exist in hierarchies (math, languages &gt; art, music)<\/li>\n<li>content should be delivered in discrete subjects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">I invite you to question the current paradigm:\u00a0<em>How would schools and universities look like so that all young people can flourish?<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">From DSC:<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Eva&#8217;s reflections remind me of what I was trying to say the other day about how ideas start out as fragile&#8230;but if they take hold, they become very powerful. Today&#8217;s education paradigms are a great example of that.
