In our work with leaders over the past six months, we\u2019ve been deeply focused on one particular aspect of \u201csituational awareness,\u201d namely building the skill of \u201creading the signs\u201d in this moment more effectively to make better decisions about the future for students and school communities. One of the \u201cbig questions\u201d we\u2019re asking is\u00a0what are we seeing happening now that gives us strong clues as to what\u2019s coming around the corner<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Obviously, we can\u2019t predict the future with 100% certainty. And actually, as situations can change in a heartbeat, that shouldn\u2019t be the goal. What we can do, however, is get a clearer sense of where we\u2019re going by being more fully aware of where we are.<\/p>\n

In an education context, many of the signs are pointing to some big changes that require a greater sense of awareness in this moment.<\/p>\n

The ability to do this continues to become a critically important skill<\/em> and habit<\/em> for most of us these days.
