How build community online?<\/li>\n<li>Spontaneous interactions still needed<\/li>\n<li>In what ways does the online ecosystem ADD to what we are doing?<\/li>\n<li>Jury trial \u2013 online; equalizer for those involved in trial; \u201call in same space on the screen\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Start with some basic\/smaller things \u2013 landlord\/tenant<\/li>\n<li>Racism going on heavily this week \u2013 a second pandemic<\/li>\n<li>Developing a quality movement in law (Linna)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>We need quality <em>metrics<\/em> and we need to measure the value being provided. What makes something effective, high-quality, and valuable? Now apply that thinking to the delivery of legal services.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Project mgmt \/ quality movement \u2013 less defects, etc. in 1980&#8217;s \/ lean thinking \/ 6 sigma in GE \/ but haven\u2019t seen this in the area of law<\/li>\n<li>Empiricism in law \u2013 100 years ago medicine and law were in the same spot; since then medicine started more testing, empirical work, data-driven practices; but law didn&#8217;t<\/li>\n<li><strong>Daniel Linna\u2019s blog \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legaltechlever.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.legaltechlever.com\/<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Can we come up with metrics?<\/li>\n<li>Dan worked with a lawyer-assisted program in Lansing, MI \u2013 what happened? What was duration of cases? Data-driven thinking; measure; make it more of a science<\/li>\n<li>Bob asked isn\u2019t law less scientific and perhaps more art than a science?<\/li>\n<li>What kinds of metrics are we talking about in litigation?<\/li>\n<li>Contracts \u2013 can we figure out what adds value and what makes a contract \u201cbetter?\u201d <em>(Insert from DSC: Better for whom though?)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>What actually matters to the client? Clauses that lawyers think that are important, businesspeople don\u2019t think are important. Risk mitigation is not all the client thinks about.<\/li>\n<li>Incomprehensible contracts \u2013 too hard to understand<\/li>\n<li>Natural language generation \u2013 what inputs do we need? We don\u2019t want many contracts to be the dataset that an algorithm gets trained on.<\/li>\n<li><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">(<\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Insert from DSC: Daniel relayed some information that reminded me of <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Clayton Christensen\u2019s disruptive thinking: 80% of impoverished folks get NOTHING. Totally disconnected. Perhaps we don\u2019t need perfection, but even <\/span><\/strong><\/em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">something<\/span><\/strong><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> is much better than <\/span><\/strong><\/em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">nothing<\/span><\/strong><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">. For example, provide an online legal aid booklet to those who are trying to represent themselves.) <\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Go for low-hanging fruit for more empirical<\/li>\n<li>Ambrogi: How does the work you are doing impact access to justice (#A2J)? How could quality movement impact police procedures? Is there applicability in terms of what you are writing about?<\/li>\n<li>Human-Centered Design \u2013 uncovering biases. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Why <em>would<\/em> people TRUST the <em>criminal<\/em> system if they can\u2019t trust the CIVIL system?<\/strong> <\/span>Perhaps if landlords thought differently. Disconnected.<\/li>\n<li>Innovate, improve, project management;<\/li>\n<li>Way decisions are made vary greatly; need more open data from our courts; lack of transparency from courts.<\/li>\n<li>Leadership \u2013 commitment to resolve issues. Lacking vision.
