That said, I realize it&#8217;s not for everyone. Our son, who is studying to become an actor, hates it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Given:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> our <em>current<\/em> technological tools, setups, and\u00a0 infrastructures<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>the ways that we are used to doing things<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">our past and current educational systems\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">and folks&#8217; learning preferences<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8230;it&#8217;s hard to do some things online. I get it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">That said, I wouldn&#8217;t rule out the further <em>significant<\/em> growth and development of online-based learning experiences by any stretch of the imagination. The Coronavirus will <em>force<\/em> traditional institutions of higher education (plus many K-12 school systems as well as corporate training programs) to invest much more aggressively in the research and development of online-based learning experiences. And with AI-based tools like <a href=\"https:\/\/otter.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Otter.AI,<\/a> our future virtually\/digitally-based learning ecosystems could be <em>very powerful<\/em> indeed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">As but one example, consider that AI technologies &#8212; as unseen but present participants in future videoconferencing calls &#8212; will &#8220;listen&#8221; to the conversation and likely provide us with a constantly updating sidebar that will consist of beneficial resources such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">relevant research<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">websites<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">journal articles<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">blog postings<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">former team conversations<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The output from that sidebar will likely be able to be saved \/downloaded just like we do with transcripts of chat sessions. <\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The available options for such a service will be customizable, and filtering mechanisms can be turned on, or off, or be adjusted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/otter.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-70637 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Otter-AI-April2020-1024x426.jpg\" alt=\"Otter dot AI\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Otter-AI-April2020-1024x426.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Otter-AI-April2020-150x62.jpg 150w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Otter-AI-April2020-768x319.jpg 768w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Otter-AI-April2020.jpg 1049w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">All of that said, it IS time to reduce the investments that are being used to create new athletic facilities and\/or other new <em>physical<\/em> buildings. And it&#8217;s time to start reallocating those <em>millions<\/em> of dollars of investments into creating\/developing highly-effective online-based learning experiences.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Don&#8217;t get me wrong. Going to campus is an ideal learning experience, and I hope that for everyone out there. But if the current trends continue &#8212; especially the increasing costs of obtaining a degree &#8212; that won&#8217;t be an option for a growing number of people (especially with the aftermath\/ripple effects of the Coronavirus on our society).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">#CostOfObtainingADegree #StudentRelated #AI #InstructionalDesign #IntelligentSystems #IntelligentTutoring #FutureOfHigherEducation #Innovation #LearningEcosystems #HigherEducation #Change #NewBusinessModels #Reinvent #StayingRelevant #Surviving<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DC: Ouch!
