[Christian]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">From DSC:<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">First a posting that got me to wondering about something that I&#8217;ve previously wondered about from time to time&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"entry-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/biz.source.colostate.edu\/college-of-business-unveils-classroom-of-the-future\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>College of Business unveils classroom of the future<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; from biz.source.colostate.edu by Joe Giordano<\/p>\n<p><em>Excerpt:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Equipped with a wall of 27 high-definition video screens as well as five high-end cameras, the newest classroom in Colorado State University\u2019s\u00a0College of Business\u00a0is designed to connect on-campus and online students in a whole new way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The College of Business unveiled on March 29 the \u201cRoom of the Future,\u201d featuring\u00a0<a class=\"fancy-link\" href=\"https:\/\/biz.colostate.edu\/resources\/classroom-experience\/mosaic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mosaic<\/a>, an innovative technology \u2013 powered by\u00a0<a class=\"fancy-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mashme.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mashme.io<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 that creates a blended classroom experience, connecting on-campus and online students in real time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lz0qHW-MBng\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">From DSC:<\/span><\/em><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">If the pedagogies could be worked out, this could be a very attractive model for many people in the future as it:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Provides convenience.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Offers more choice. More control. (Students could pick whether they want to attend the class virtually or in a physical classroom).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">If the resulting increase in students could bring down the price of offering the course, will we see this model flourish in the near future?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">For struggling colleges and universities, could this help increase the ROI of offering their classes on their physical campuses?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The technologies behind this are not cheap though&#8230;and that could be a show-stopper for this type of an experiment. But&#8230;thinking out loud again&#8230;w<\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">hat if there were a cheaper way to view a group of other people in your learning community? Perhaps there will be a solution using some form of Extended Reality (XR)&#8230;hmmm&#8230;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone
