Officials from edX declined to talk about the project, saying only that it is in the early stages. But at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?438565-2\/higher-education-innovation-summit-part-1\">a higher-education innovation summit<\/a> last month hosted by the U.S. Department of Education, Anant Agarwal, CEO of edX, listed the project as part of the group\u2019s long-term vision that began with its MicroMasters program. And the organization has <a href=\"https:\/\/trademarks.justia.com\/868\/05\/microbachelors-86805248.html\">filed a trademark<\/a> for the term \u201cMicroBachelors\u201d as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>\u201cEducation in five to ten years will become modular, will become omnichannel, and will become lifelong,\u201d Agarwal said at the meeting, later explaining that omnichannel meant offering courses either online or in person.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">How would a MicroBachelors be different than, say, a two-year associate\u2019s degree, which is arguably already half a bachelor\u2019s degree?
