Our framework (see below graphic) for this growth of teaching expertise draws from the scholarly literature related to postsecondary teaching and learning to demonstrate that <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>teaching expertise involves multiple facets, habits of mind (or ways of knowing and being), and possible developmental activities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Structure of the Framework<br \/>\n<\/strong>Our framework (Figure 1) introduces three foundational habits of mind\u2014inclusive, learning-centered, and collaborative ways of knowing and being\u2014that ground five interwoven and non-hierarchical facets of teaching expertise:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>teaching and supporting learning<\/li>\n<li>professional learning and development<\/li>\n<li>mentorship<\/li>\n<li>research, scholarship, and inquiry<\/li>\n<li>educational leadership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facultyfocus.com\/articles\/faculty-development\/developing-learning-culture-framework\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-62227\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/TeachingExpertiseFramework_Artboard-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/TeachingExpertiseFramework_Artboard-8.jpg 751w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/TeachingExpertiseFramework_Artboard-8-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 751px) 100vw, 751px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Figure 1: Conceptualization of a framework for the development of teaching expertise<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">This framework is \u201cwritten in pencil\u201d in that it is meant to be shared, adapted, and used according to the needs of local contexts.
