How about these skills!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the recent <em>Next Generation Learning Spaces Conference<\/em>, during one of the workshops, the question was asked:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>What skills do your current facilities promote\/develop?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A minority of workshop attendees said multidisciplinary collaboration, engagement, and creativity. One university had purposely designed and built <em>a new ecosystem of spaces<\/em> such that students had different experiences when moving into a variety of setups\/rooms.\u00a0 Thus, they viewed this new facility as helping the students <em>adapt to change<\/em> \u2013 which was one of the characteristics and skills they wanted their learning spaces to facilitate in their students.<\/p>\n<p>That said, most of the answers were along the lines of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>listening<\/li>\n<li>note-taking<\/li>\n<li>memorization<\/li>\n<li>regurgitating knowledge from lectures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then yesterday, I ran across <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZeinaChalich\/status\/720204635517026304\" target=\"_blank\">a tweet from Zeina Chalich<\/a> (from <span class=\"ProfileHeaderCard-locationText u-dir\" dir=\"ltr\">Sydney, Australia) &#8212; and I thought to myself, <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">now THERE&#8217;s a great list of skills that our facilities should help develop!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZeinaChalich\/status\/720204635517026304\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58855\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/skills-to-develop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/skills-to-develop.jpg 600w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/skills-to-develop-150x89.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the recent Next Generation Learning Spaces Conference, during one of the workshops, the question was asked: What skills do your current facilities promote\/develop?
