The feature offers tailored course material that directly correlates with student performance while the student is taking the class, as well as tailored assessment algorithms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">HarvardX is an independent university initiative that was launched in parallel with edX, the online learning platform that was created by Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Both HarvardX and edX run massive open online courses. The new feature has never before been used in a HarvardX course, and has only been deployed in a small number of edX courses, according to officials.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">From DSC:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">Given the growth of AI, this is certainly radar worthy &#8212; something that&#8217;s definitely worth pulse-checking to see where opportunities exist to leverage these types of technologies.\u00a0 What we now know of as adaptive learning will likely take <em>an enormous step forward<\/em> in the next decade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">IBM&#8217;s assertion rings in my mind:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.research.ibm.com\/cognitive-computing\/machine-learning-applications\/decision-support-education.shtml#fbid=fekYt2pxy1l\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58602\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IBM-In5-Years.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IBM-In5-Years.jpg 444w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IBM-In5-Years-150x96.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 444px) 100vw, 444px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.research.ibm.com\/cognitive-computing\/machine-learning-applications\/decision-support-education.shtml#fbid=fekYt2pxy1l\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58603\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IBMResearch-In5-Years.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IBMResearch-In5-Years.jpg 728w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IBMResearch-In5-Years-150x106.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">I&#8217;m cautiously hopeful that these types of technologies can extend beyond K-12 and help us deal with the current need to be <em>lifelong<\/em> learners, and the need to constantly reinvent ourselves &#8212; while providing us with more choice, more control over our learning. I&#8217;m hopeful that learners will be able to pursue their passions, and enlist the help of other learners and\/or the (human) subject matter experts as needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">I don&#8217;t see these types of technologies replacing any teachers, professors, or trainers.
