<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Nikos&#8217; innovative reflections also made me think about his ideas in light of their interaction or impact with web-based learner profiles, credentialing, badging, and lifelong learning.\u00a0 <strong>What&#8217;s especially noteworthy here is that the innovations (that impact learning) continue to occur mainly in the online and blended learning spaces.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>How might the ramifications of these innovations impact institutions who are pretty much doing face-to-face only <\/strong>(in terms of their course delivery mechanisms and pedagogies)?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Given:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">That Microsoft purchased LinkedIn and can amass a database of skills and open jobs (playing a cloud-based matchmaker)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Everyday microlearning is key to staying relevant (RSS feeds and tapping into &#8220;streams of content&#8221; are important here, and so is the use of Twitter)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">65% of today\u2019s students will be doing jobs that don\u2019t even exist yet (per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/athome\/close-ups\/futureproof\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft &amp; The Future Laboratory<\/a> in 2016)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/athome\/close-ups\/futureproof\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-57255 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/FutureProofYourself-MSFutureLab-2016.jpg\" alt=\"futureproofyourself-msfuturelab-2016\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/FutureProofYourself-MSFutureLab-2016.jpg 651w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/FutureProofYourself-MSFutureLab-2016-150x128.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 651px) 100vw, 651px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The exponential pace of technological change<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The increasing level of experimentation with blockchain (credentialing)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8230;and more<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8230;what do the futures look like for those colleges and universities that operate only in the face-to-face space and who are not innovating enough?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From DSC: The other day I had posted some ideas in regards to how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and augmented reality are coming together to offer some wonderful new possibilities for learning (see: &#8220;From DSC: Amazing possibilities coming together w\/ augmented reality used in conjunction w\/ machine learning!
