The funny thing is, it is already here. Contrary to expectation, though, it isn\u2019t just a bunch of devices that have a chip and an internet connection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The killer app of the Internet of Things isn\u2019t a thing at all\u2014it is services. And they are being delivered by an unlikely cast of characters: Uber Technologies Inc., SolarCity<span class=\"company-name-type\"> Corp.<\/span> , ADT Corp., and Comcast<span class=\"company-name-type\"> Corp.<\/span> , to name a few. One recent entrant: the Brita unit of Clorox<span class=\"company-name-type\"> Corp.<\/span> , which just introduced a Wi-Fi-enabled \u201csmart\u201d pitcher that can re-order its own water filters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">When internet-connected devices are considered a service, consumers don\u2019t have to worry about integrating gadgets.
