One of the stars of this year&#8217;s show\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZuoEnPLdoZo\" target=\"_blank\">was &#8220;Monument Mode,&#8221;<\/a> a new feature that promises to work with smartphone cameras to crop out tourists, cars, and other moving objects that might be blocking your shot of famous landmarks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/spectrum.ieee.org\/view-from-the-valley\/consumer-electronics\/audiovideo\/photography-startup-light-launches-multilens-camera\" target=\"_blank\">Photography Startup Light Launches Multilens Camera<\/a><\/strong> &#8212; from by Tekla Perry<\/p>\n<p>Excerpt:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Last year, <a href=\"http:\/\/spectrum.ieee.org\/view-from-the-valley\/consumer-electronics\/audiovideo\/piecing-together-a-picture-of-photography-startup-light\" target=\"_blank\">stealthy Palo Alto startup Light<\/a> picked up $9.7 million in venture funding to \u201creimagine the art and science of photography.\u201d Job postings indicated they were looking for people with experience in combining multiple recorded images to reduce noise and improve image quality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">This week, Light demonstrated a prototype of its first product, what it calls a \u201cmulti-aperture computational camera,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/light.co\/camera\" target=\"_blank\">the L16<\/a>, at the <a href=\"http:\/\/recode.net\/events\/code-mobile target=\">Code\/Mobile<\/a> conference in Half Moon Bay. This flat camera, which looks like a fat smartphone, includes 16 camera lenses with a variety of focal lengths, 10 of which fire at any one time. Behind each lens is a camera module that records an image in 13-megapixel resolution; exposure is set individually for each lens.
