&#8212; it&#8217;s going to take a team-based approach to compete in the future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>From DSC:<br \/>\n<\/em>As I was watching &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2AJ4GRu8zQM\" target=\"_blank\">The Future of Higher Education: MOOCs and Disruptive Innovation<\/a>,&#8221; a video recorded last August, (GW&#8217;s School of Business) Dean Doug Guthrie mentioned a company named <a href=\"http:\/\/inthetelling.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>In the Telling<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 The name of that company piqued my curiosity, so I went to look at that company, and what <em>instantly<\/em> struck me about their offerings were the use of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">A team-based approach to education<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The use of digital storytelling<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Software as a Service<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/inthetelling.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-45825\" alt=\"InTheTelling-TeamBasedEducation-April2014\" src=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/InTheTelling-TeamBasedEducation-April2014.jpg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" border=\"0\" srcset=\"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/InTheTelling-TeamBasedEducation-April2014.jpg 833w, http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/InTheTelling-TeamBasedEducation-April2014-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 833px) 100vw, 833px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dean Guthrie&#8217;s comments on interaction, community building, and customization rang true for me, but it was the customization part that really grabbed me.\u00a0 And there too, most likely<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> it will take a team of people to understand and use the data, to build the algorithms that Doug was talking about to deliver the\u00a0 learning trees of the future<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> (and I would add the phrases\/terms <em>learning paths<\/em> and <em>learning playlists<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I have it that as MOOCs continue to morph and as the perfect storm in higher education continues to amass,<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong> those institutions who implement a team-based approach to content creation, delivery, and assessment will be the ones who thrive in the future.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This thought was further brought home when I viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/e-literate-tv.inthetelling.com\/#\/episode\/52e68d5ac9b71523ee000002\" target=\"_blank\">Phil Hill and Michael Feldstein discussing &#8220;Online Learning &#8211;
