{"id":36628,"date":"2013-01-22T08:54:32","date_gmt":"2013-01-22T13:54:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/?p=36628"},"modified":"2013-01-22T15:38:13","modified_gmt":"2013-01-22T20:38:13","slug":"reflections-on-harold-jarches-solid-posting-less-is-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/2013\/01\/22\/reflections-on-harold-jarches-solid-posting-less-is-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Reflections on Harold Jarche&#8217;s solid posting, &#8220;Less is more&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jarche.com\/2013\/01\/less-is-more\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Less is more<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; from Harold Jarche<\/p>\n<p><em>Excerpts:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>If you were to sum up the psychology of learning in three words, it would be \u2018less is more\u2019. <\/em><em>&#8211;<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/donaldclarkplanb.blogspot.ca\/2013\/01\/cool-research-happy-sheets-hopeless.html\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Clark<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In FrogDesign\u2019s presentation on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/frogdesign\/design-is-hacking-how-we-learn\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Design is Hacking How we Learn<\/strong><\/a>, slide #27 clearly shows where the emphasis of our learning efforts should be, and where organizations should place the most support and resources: <strong>practice.<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jarche.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/how-we-learn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"how we learn\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jarche.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/how-we-learn.jpg\" width=\"520\" height=\"285\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">From DSC:<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">In the corporate world, my thought is to provide the training as to where and how employees can get\/stay in the know &#8212; especially by encouraging the use and ownership of blogs, social media, and developing\/leveraging their personal learning networks.\u00a0 But also to provide the infrastructure and tools &#8212; the plumbing if you will &#8212; to allow for people to quickly connect with each other and to easily share information with each other<strong> (i.e. to develop their own learning ecosystems)<\/strong>. Formal classes won&#8217;t cut it. As Harold and other members of the Internet Alliance have long been saying, it&#8217;s about <em><strong>informal<\/strong><\/em> <strong>learning<\/strong>.
