{"id":35946,"date":"2013-01-02T11:06:05","date_gmt":"2013-01-02T16:06:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/?p=35946"},"modified":"2013-01-02T11:24:07","modified_gmt":"2013-01-02T16:24:07","slug":"experimentation-will-be-critically-important-in-2013-for-the-higher-education-industry-christian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/danielschristian.com\/learning-ecosystems\/2013\/01\/02\/experimentation-will-be-critically-important-in-2013-for-the-higher-education-industry-christian\/","title":{"rendered":"Experimentation will be critically important in 2013+ for the higher education industry [Christian]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\"><em>From DSC:<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\">Whereas:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvin.edu\/~dsc8\/walmartofeducation.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Walmart of Education<\/em><\/a> continues and higher ed finds itself in a game-changing environment<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\">The pace of change continues to accelerate<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\">Disruptive innovations continue to poke at the higher education bubble<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\">There is danger in the status quo<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\">We all need to constantly reinvent ourselves and our organizations in order to remain relevant&#8230;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\">&#8230;institutions of higher education would be wise to<strong> significantly increase the priority of experimentation<\/strong> on their campuses during 2013.\u00a0 This might take the form of creating smaller, more nimble organizations within their overall universities or colleges, or it might be experimenting with new business models, or it might be identifying\/experimenting with promising educational technologies or new pedagogies, etc.\u00a0 I will have several blog postings re: experimentation &#8212; and potential things to try out &#8212; during 2013; so stay tuned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #622c9c;\"><strong>Whether we are staff, faculty, or administration, change is coming our way in 2013.\u00a0<\/strong> So starting today, get involved with further innovations and experiments on your campus &#8212; don&#8217;t be a roadblock or you will likely find your institution eventually becoming irrelevant.
