One of our participants, a high school math teacher, initially set out to create his own textbook. However, as we started exploring <a href=\"http:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/book-creator-for-ipad\/id442378070?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\">BookCreator<\/a>, <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>he realized that the real value may be in the students creating their own collection of books over the course of the year.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>From DSC:<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><strong>I like this idea of giving students more tools to create their own content.<\/strong> <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>When talking to an ed tech contact from Ohio at this summer&#8217;s Moodlemoot, he mentioned that in his 20 districts, there&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>a new paradigm now &#8212; <\/strong><\/em><strong>students<\/strong><em><strong> are creating the content. <\/strong><br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><\/em>Perhaps this is the answer to the oft-asked question, &#8220;WHO will create and maintain the content?&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Publishers?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Teams of specialists within a school district, college, or university?<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Teachers and faculty members?\u00a0<strong><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Or will it be the students themselves, guided by their teachers and faculty members?<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How students can create their own e-textbooks on an iPad &#8212; from edudemic.com Excerpt (emphasis DSC): In July, Greg Kulowiec and I taught a workshop on Creating Digital Course Content.
