[Christian]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>My hats off to Clayton Christensen and Henry Eyring!\u00a0 <\/strong>My respect level just went up yet another notch for these two people.<\/span><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Seeing as Clayton is a Professor at<span style=\"color: #800000;\"> ***<em>Harvard<\/em>&#8216;s***<\/span> Business School and Henry is an <em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">***Administrator***<\/span> <\/em>at Brigham Young University, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goacta.org\/publications\/PDFs\/2012ChristensenLetter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">their stance and recent letter to college and university trustees nationwide<\/a> is a wonderful example of <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>true leadership.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 They risked many things by taking a stand and urging institutions of higher education to change. Their purpose is noble. Their message should be heeded.<\/p>\n<p>From the website of the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.goacta.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">American Council of Trustees and Alumni:<\/a><\/strong> (<em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">emphasis by DSC<\/span><\/em>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Clayton Christensen: higher ed trustees &#8220;crucial as never before&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nHarvard Business School professor (and bestselling author of <em>The Innovator&#8217;s Dilemma<\/em>) Clayton M. Christensen and Henry J. Eyring of Brigham Young University recently <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goacta.org\/publications\/PDFs\/2012ChristensenLetter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">sent a letter<\/a><\/strong> to college and university trustees nationwide, <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">recognizing a critical turning point for the future of higher education<\/span><\/strong>. &#8220;If you&#8217;ve been serving for more than a few years, you&#8217;ve seen a big change in the nature of trustees meetings,&#8221; the authors wrote. &#8220;Before the downturn of 2008, the agenda tended to focus on growth and on ways to fund it&#8230;. <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">At some point, the bubble was bound to burst<\/span><\/strong>\u2014or at least start to sag. <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Now that it has, your role becomes crucial as never before.&#8221;<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\">The letter urges trustees to demand innovative solutions to expand student access and improve academic quality at their institutions: &#8220;The innovators can do more than merely avoid disruption.
