But it has quickly become much more than that.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u201cThere\u2019s a growing body of evidence that suggests blended courses really are  an effective way for students to learn,\u201d says Ike Shibley, PhD, associate  professor of chemistry at Penn State-Berks. \u201c<strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Blended courses can actually lead  to increased student engagement, not less<\/span><\/strong><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\"> (emphasis DSC)<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">But for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facultyfocus.com\/tag\/blended-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\">blended  learning<\/a> to work well for you and, more importantly, your students, it  requires a fair amount of upfront prep time in advance of the course and the  discipline to stick to your course plan.
