Why? <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Because such students have shown themselves to be:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8220;Self starters&#8221; <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8212; independent, not needing too much attention<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Motivated<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Disciplined<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Hard-working<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Tech-savvy enough<\/strong> to work with some of the current tools being used out there<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Students really need to have their act together in order to be successful in an online learning environment.\u00a0 <em>That is not to say that face-to-face students don&#8217;t have their act together; but rather, <strong>to be successful online, you <\/strong><\/em><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>have to<\/strong><\/span><em><strong> have your act together.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Also see:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.popecenter.org\/commentaries\/article.html?id=2585\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Online Higher Ed Poised to Break Out?<\/strong><\/a> &#8212; from The John William Pope Center by Duke Cheston<br \/>\nInnovative Western Governors University may hold the answers to the problems of distance learning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From DSC: I guess I&#8217;m in a reflective mood&#8230;but the posting entitled &#8220;5 questions to ask yourself before taking your first online class&#8221; got me to thinking about online learning and the students who succeed in learning via this approach.
